MayhemNetworks.net vs. .com
Why did I get a .NET instead of a .COM? I’m sure a lot of people wonder that. I myself sometimes wonder why I went through with the purchase after I did it. Well lets see. I was at Go Daddy in the morning. And I love the word Mayhem. I don’t know why so don’t bother asking. But anyways. I wanted to get a domain with the word Mayhem in it. And when I got it it was going to be a portfolio site. (or so I thought) So I was doing the research and found mayhemnetworks.com was available. I’m like. WOW. I like that domain name. So I’m going to get it. Low and behold I didn’t have my wallet on me, no credit cards nothing. So I had to wait till later that evening. So I got home and was all excited. This was going to be my second domain name purchase and I liked the name and it was available.
So I pull out my card and start the purchase process. Enter my domain, and low and behold a couple of hours later and my domain name has already been picked up. Now this is a domain that had been available for who knows how long. And now it was taken. Well I was pissed. I did a whois lookup on the domain and of course it was just purchased so the whois information wasn’t showing up. But I was there to buy a domain name and that’s exactly what I did. So I figured I’ll get the next best thing. .NET wasn’t that bad was it? I mean a .COM is cooler and in firefox if you just type a domain name with out the TLD you’ll get the .COM not the .NET. So yeah there are for sure drawbacks.
I wonder if Google puts a better ranking on a .COM though? I’m curious to know that if someone actually does know.
A little something
Well this isn’t a post that will be online for long. But I hate the stupid default stuff that Wordpress chooses to leave on. So I’m putting a little boring something to read about, rather then have a broken site.
Hopefully everyone is alright with that.
