United States Navy vs. Environmentalists and whales

Powered by Gregarious (42)

The United States Navy and Animal Rights Activists a strange combo? I thought so too until I read this article. The United States Navy is being accused of animal cruelty. The Natural Resources Defense Council along with other environmental groups has brought litigation against the Navy for use of their sonar. The claim is that constant use of the sonar for training purposes is a violation of environmental laws and is detrimental to marine life.

Animal welfare organizations have documented cases of mass whale strandings and deaths around the world that they say are associated with sonar blasts thought to disorient marine mammals and sometimes cause bleeding from the eyes and ears.

In January of this year the Pentagon exempted the Navy from a law protecting whales so they could continue using sonar for their training. The Navy is now trying to withhold information regarding their non-combat sonar usage because of its TOP SECRET nature of this information. The Navy has exercised the state secrets privilege to avoid plaintiffs request to reveal the inside information.

Should the Navy be allowed to kill innocent creatures of the sea to further US intelligence and National security by routine training with sonar? Or should the US become more vulnerable to security breaches because they aren’t allowed to continue their training for fear of losing marine life during training?

One thing is certain, human life and marine life are equally precious. Is it too much to wonder if a compromise can be made to aid in the perservation of both?

Donald Trump gives Vince McMahon the smack down!!!

Powered by Gregarious (42)

If you’re a fan of one of the following then do I have news for you: Donald Trump, Vince McMahon, WW Entertainment (formerly the WWF World Wrestling Federation), shaved heads, and smacking down. They are all coming together for Wrestlemania 2007.

In a battle of the Billionaires Donald Trump and Vince McMahon have challenged each other to a wrestle off! They both agreed that if their wrestler lost Wrestlemania they would shave their heads. Article here

Last night it heated up when Donald Trump called Vince McMahon back into the ring solo to discuss edited pictures Vince had made showing Donald Trump bald. At first Vince hesitated, as an image of Vince appeared on the screen with his head shaved bald he eventually crawled back in the ring just to get the smack down of a lifetime by Donald Trump himself! Yes, that’s right Donald Trump slammed Vince McMahon on top of the table that was in the ring and Vince fell back over a chair and landed flat on his back smacking his head to the mat.

I’m not a big WWE watcher myself, but man this one is intriguing! I don’t know about you, but I want to see those two go head to head in a cage match! Wonder what’ll happen next?

Free virus and spyware removal tools

Are you a victim of spy ware? Have a virus? Have no fear! Many people think that when their computer starts running slow or they have different kind of “malfunctions” they need to buy a new computer. That’s usually not the case. As a matter of fact your problem could be a virus or spy ware and you, the technologically challenged, may be able to fix it yourself FOR FREE. There are free spy ware and virus removal tools available, but you need to be careful when choosing which one to use since some advertise themselves as a spy ware removal tools and are actually spy ware.

Most people know that it’s always good to have some sort of anti virus running on their computers along with a firewall to help ward off the evil spirits of spy ware and viruses, but today programmers are so on top of their game they make it extremely difficult to remove them.

PC WORLD Magazine, a really great magazine that even non-computer geeks can appreciate, wrote an article giving the simple steps anyone can follow to resuscitate their PC’s from viruses or spy ware. You can read the article here.

Food for thought-With all the viruses and spy ware out there are all their creators just malicious with nothing better to do? OR are Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft, and other big names, in on the scheme and paying the spy ware programmers to continue making them to generate more revenue for the above mentioned big names to find “patches” and other “new and improved” “top of the line” security programs they can charge you for?
